Three Bearkats named softball All-Southland

Members of the honor squad are selected by vote of the league's head softball coaches and sports information directors.
Burford, a sophomore from Austin Bowie High School, was Sam Houston's top hitter in Southland Conference action this year with a .318 average that included five home runs, four doubles and 19 RBIs. For the season, Burford hit .298 with 22 RBIs. Burford started 43 games for Sam Houston this year.
Mikulin, a senior from Huntsville, has earned All-Southland honors each of her four years at Sam Houston. This season, Mikulin led the Bearkats in the pitching circle with 15 victories, seven shutouts, one save and 111 strike outs in her 207 innings of action. Mikulin completes her career holding the SHSU all-time record for saves and games pitched and ranks among the top10 all-time in innings pitched, strike outs, victories and shutouts (19).
Wiginton, a junior from Friendswood, started 46 of Sam Houston's 49 games this season at shortstop, hitting .315. She led the team in total hits (46) and posted eight doubles, three triples and one home run. Her selection marks the third year in a row for Wiginton to be named to the All-Southland softball team.
