The Bearkats and the Islanders play at 2 p.m. each day. Both teams were eliminated from contention for the Southland Conference post-season tournament last week.
Sam Houston designated hitter Chris Andreas brings a 23-game hitting streak into the series. The 23 games with at least one hit stands as the ninth longest current streak in NCAA Division I baseball and the second longest current streak in the Southland Conference.
The 23 games also stands as the third longest in Sam Houston baseball history. Terry Pirtle posted a 34-game streak in 1987 and Andrew Kasparek went 28 games in 2003 and 2004.
"Chris is hitting with a lot of passion right now," Sam Houston head coach Mark Johnson said.
Andreas leads Sam Houston with a .376 batting average this season. Three other starters - second baseman Braeden Riley (.369), shortstop Ryan Mooney (.337) and outfielder Mark Hudson (.318) - all are hitting above .300.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi brings a 19-31-1 season mark and a 9-20-1 Southland Conference record into the series. Matt Holland (.367) and Trey Hernandez (.344) lead the Islanders at the plate.
Sam Houston State stands 17-35 for the year and 9-21 in Southland play.
