Women lead, men second in Funston Invt. Golf

The Sam Houston women lead the team competition and the Bearkat men are two strokes off the pace after the first round of the second annual Harold Funston Invitational being held at Raven Nest Golf Course in Huntsville.

Led by Meghan Musk and Shelby Hardy, who both shot one-over totals of 72, the Sam Houston women carded an 18-hole team total of 294 Monday. A&M-Corpus Christi and Redlands College are tied for second place both at 300.

Sarah Schober of Redlands and Sarah Harper of Oklahoma Christian are tied for first place in the individual women's standings, both with even-par 71.

Oklahoma City University leads the men's team standings with a 283 total. Sam Houston first a 285 followed closely in third place by Nicholls at 287.

Kristjan Einarsson of Nicholls carded a six-under 65 to lead the men's individual standings. James Glenn of Sam Houston State is in second place at 67.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The men will begin play on the front nine with the women starting on the back nine.
