Tne No. 7 ranked Sam Houston women's bowling team is headed north as the Bearkats travel to the 2011 Fairleigh Dickinson New Jersey Jamboree this weekend.
The event is being held at Parkway Lanes in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, and consists of a 20-team field that features 12 nationally ranked squads.
NCAA champion and No. 1 ranked Maryland Eastern Shore heads the field. Other ranked teams include No. 2 Vanderbilt, host No. 3 Fairleigh Dickinson, No. 7 Sam Houston, No. 8 Kutztown, No. 9 Sacred Heart, No. 11 Adelphi, No. 12 Delaware State, No. 13 Stephen F. Austin, No. 16 Saint Francis (NY), No. 17 Wisconsin-Whitewater and No. 19 Saint Francis (Pa).
Sam Houston finished third in last year's New Jersey Jamboree, rolling up two wins over Vanderbilt, then ranked No. 4 in the country.
The Bearkats bring a 10-5 season mark into the tournament. Sam Houston opened the year with two victories over Stephen F. Austin in the Piney Woods Shootout in Arlington then went 8-5 in the Greater Ozark Invitational in Springfield, Mo., as they finished third in the tournament.
The three-day New Jesery Jamboree will consist of five total pin fall Bakar matches on Friday, five traditional five-player team matches on Saturday and bracket final best of seven Baker matches on Sunday.
