Women's golfers open at Victoria

Victoria - The Sam Houston women's golf team opened play in the first tournament of the 2011 spring schedule Sunday afternoon at the Texas State Claude Jacobs Invitational.
The Bearkats fired a first round 319 to stand seventh in the team standings with 36 holes remaining.
Landa Stewart and Jessica Borth led the Bearkats, each with 79s. Meghan Stevens carded an 80, Shelby Hardy shot 81 and Meghan Musk posted an 83.
Kansas leads the team competition with a 301 total.
