
Dayna Galganski earns MVP honor

The Bearkats defeated Prairie View A&M twice and Alabama State once in best-of-seven baker match play Sunday to capture the trophy at the Florida A&M Rattler Classic held in Tallahassee, Fla.
Sam Houston posted two victories over No. 18 Florida A&M, the host of the event, knocking off the Rattles in both five-set quad matches and traditional five-person team matches. The Bearkats also defeated Jackson State and Alabama State.
Galganski, a junior from West Palm Beach, Fla., posted a 189.5 average in leading the Kats to four five-person team game victories on Saturday. Included among those performances where game scores of 210 and 201 pins.
The junior leads Sam Houston this season in NCAA Division I play pin averages with a total of 5,998 pins in 30 matches for a 199.9 average.
Sam Houston currently ranks No. 5 in the nation. The Bearkat women's bowling squad has started its first season making a big splash nationally. Sam Houston now owns a 49-26 overall record and has posted victories over both teams that have held the No. 1 spot in the national ranking - defending NCAA champion Fairleigh Dickinson (the No. 1 team in the 2011 preseason poll) and current No. 1 Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Sam Houston has defeated every team listed among the NCAA's top 10 at least once this season.
Next action for the Sam Houston women's bowling team will be the Holiday Classic in Bessemer, Ala., beginning Feb. 25
