Women's golf 5th at Corpus

The Sam Houston women's golf team finished in a tie for fifth place in the 16-team field at the A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic after 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday.
The event is being played on the par 72, 6,073-yard course at Corpus Christi Country Club. The layout also will be the site of the 2011 Southland Conference women's golf championship in April.
Meghann Stevens individual score of 73-78-75--226 and Shelby Hardy's indiviual score of 76-77-73--226 led the way for Sam Houston golfers with both finishing in a tie for 8th place. Sam Houston carded 303-308-302--913 as a team.
Oral Roberts won the tournament with a three round team total of 898. North Texas finished one stroke ahead of Lamar for second place with a team total of 902, followed by UTSA 905, Sam Houston 913, A&M Corpus Christi 913, McLennan 935, Central Arkansas 940, Stephen F. Austin 942, Texas-Pan American 952, Missouri-Kansas City 953, Mcneese State 954, Oklahoma City 961, Eastern Kentucky 974, Houston-Victoria 1092 and A&M-Kingsville 1127.
Crystal Reeves of Oral Roberts finsihed two strokes ahead of 36 hole leaders Julia Roth of Central Arkansas and Paolo Valerio of UTSA to win the two day event with a 54 hole total of 218.
Other Sam Houston standings and scores were Landa Stewart T-12th 80-74-73--227, Jessica Borth T-46th 77-79-84--240, Meghan Musk T-42th 77-80-81--238 and Laura Reynolds T-65th 84-79-87--250.
