
Golfers 7th in Hawaii

Meghann Stevens led the Sam Houston State women's golf team with a 19th place individual finish as the Bearkats placed seventh out of 19 teams in the talent-laden field at the University of Hawaii Kaneohe Kipper Classic Monday and Tuesday.
Stevens completed the 54-hole tournament with a score of 80-72-78-230. Other Sam Houston scores and finishes included Shelby Hardy 45th with a 78-78-79-235, Landa Stewart 56th with a 74-84-79-237, Jessica Borth placed 64th with a 78-77-85-240 and Meghan Musk finished 82nd shooting a 85-83-79-247.
Arizona State won the team championship with a 54-hole total of 293-293-301-887. Arizona was the team runner-up with a 902 score, followed by Notre Dame 904, UNLV 908, Nevada 918, Vanderbilt 927 and Sam Houston 935.
Finishing behind the Bearkats were Washington State 938, Fresno State 941, Seattle 942, Hawaii 943, Osaka Gakuin and Idaho 944, California State-Northridge 950, Wichita State 952, Wyoming 953, Gonzaga 960, Boise State 965 and Hawaii-Hilo 986.
Carlote Ciganda of Arizona State won the individual medalist championship with a one-under par total of 68-74-3-215.
