All-Southland Conference Bearkats

Wiginton, a senior from Friendswood, is being recognized as All-Southland for a fourth consecutive season. She was an honorable mention selection as a freshman, second as a sophomore and first team each of the past two years. Wiginton posted a .331 batting average in 2011, leading the Bearkats in total hits (54), doubles (9) and home runs (9). She completes her Bearkat career as Sam Houston's all-time leader in doubles (37), ranks second all-time in total runs (129), hits (224), and home runs (18) and is the third-leading hitter in Kat annals with a four-year batting mean of .348.
Benavidez, a sophomore from Midlothian, was voted to the All-Southland second team. A starter in center field in 35 games this season, Benavidez hit .319 for the season with seven doubles and one home run. She was one of the Bearkats' top three hitters in Southland Conference action, producing nine multi-hit performances
Survant, a senior from Bryan, was a third-team all-league selection. She hit .325 for the season and was the Bearkats' top hitter in Southland action with a .348 batting average in league play. Survant posted 13 multiple hit games and led the squad in total hits, doubles and on-base percentage in the Kats' 29 Southland conference contests.
Garrison, a junior from Garland, was named All-Southland honorable mention. Garrison was the Bearkats' ace in the pitching circle this season, throwing in 37 of Sam Houston's 54 games. She posted a 2.62 earned run average, 15 victories and struck out 123 batters. Garrison produced a no-hitter against McNeese State and shutout five opponents including conference champion A&M-Corpus Christi and runner-up UT-Arlington.
