
Women's bowling at U.S. Open this weekend

After one day of action at the U.S. Women's Open in Euless, Sam Houston State bowlers are holding their own.
Elise Bolton, who signed to bowl for the Bearkats next season, stands 15th in the overall competition at +253. Aida Sanchez sits at +10.
Four members of the current Sam Houston women's bowling team and a future Bearkat who will be joining the squad this fall are taking part in bowling's U.S. Women's Open this weekend at the AMF Bowling Center in Euless.
Kimi Davidson, Lisa MacAllister, Aida Sanchez and Shaina Woolbaugh who joined together to help lead Sam Houston to an NCAA Division I Elite Eight playoff appearance and a No. 7 final national ranking in the Bearkats' inaugural season of play will be participating in the action.
Also, Sam Houston 2011 signee Elise Bolton will see action as well.
The event began Friday, June 24 and runs through Wednesday, June 29.
The finals will be held Thursday, June 30 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The finals will mark sports history as, for the first time ever in the sport of bowling, a women's major event will be held in a traditional sporting venue. Two lanes for the final competition will be set up on the field at the stadium.
"Once again, it's exciting to have our young women compete on a national level," Sam Houston head coach Brad Hagen said. "This is going to be a great experience."
