H-E-B is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the "H-E-B Tailgater of the Game" contest at each of the Bearkats' six home football games at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium.
H-E-B Tailgater of the Game judges, led by SHSU alumnus and H-E-B vice president of operations Terry Williams, will be roaming Bearkat Alley seeking the best tailgate setup at each game.
Fans are being challenged to make H-E-B a strong feature in presenting their tailgate experience to the judges. The judges will select three finalists, each of whom will receive a $25 H-E-B gift card. They will be looking for a strong H-E-B food presence, team spirit, originality and hospitality in their search to crown the "H-E-B Tailgater of the Game".
The winner receives a $100 H-E-B gift card and the opportunity to compete for the "H-E-B Tailgater of the Year" prize at the final Bearkat home football game.
Sam Houston fans are ready to take the challenge, get the creative juices flowing, and show the H-E-B judges a great tailgate experience. The winning tailgate will be recognized during the game on the Bowers Stadium video board.
The "H-E-B Tailgater of the Game" contests will begin with Sam Houston's Thursday Sept. 1 season opener against nationally-ranked Western Illinois.
Other Bearkat home dates and opponents are Sept. 17 Central Arkansas, Oct. 1 UTSA, Oct. 15 Nicholls, Oct. 29 Lamar and Nov. 12 Northwestern State.
H-E-B also is presenting sponsor of the Battle of the Piney Woods "Tailgater of the Game" contest at the Sam Houston vs. Stephen F. Austin rivalry game October 8 at Reliant Stadium in Houston. The 86th annual "Battle of the Piney Woods" is presented by YP.com.
Tickets for all six Sam Houston State home games at Bowers Stadium and the "Battle of the Piney Woods" presented by YP.com at Reliant Stadium are on sale now online at www.gobearkats.com/tickets or at the SHSU athletic ticket office.
