Monroe, La. - The Sam Houston women's golf team tied with Northeastern State University for fifth place in the Bearkats' second tournament of the season Monday and Tuesday at the University of Louisiana-Monroe Fred Marx Invitational.
The Bearkats fired a score of 313-305-308--926 on the par 72, 5,923-yard course at the Bayou DeSiard Country Club.
Shelby Hardy was Sam Houston's top individual finisher, placing 12th in the medalist standings with a 54-hole total of 76-74-77--227.
Other Bearkat scores and standings were Jackie Smith 18th (81-73-77--231); Meghan Musk 22nd (78-79-77--234), Christiana Stringham 30th (78-82-77--237) and Jenna Stene 36th (81-79-80--240).
Troy University won the team competition with a two-day total of 295-303-298--896. South Alabama (902) finished second, host Louisiana-Monroe (906) third and Houston Baptist (909) fourth.
