The annual fundraising event for the Sam Houston State University baseball program will be held at the Lowman Student Center ball room.
The event will begin with a social hour/cash bar at 5 p.m. Prior to dinner, guests will have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items. Following dinner, first year Sam Houston State head coach David Pierce will introduce his staff and the members of the 2012 baseball team.
Norm Miller will speak and there will be a live auction of with a variety of outstanding auction items on the block.
"We're looking forward to a great evening for Bearkat baseball with good food and great camaraderie," Pierce said. "This event is a major fundraiser for our program. Not only will be it a fun evening for baseball fans but also it will help us raise money for the Bearkat baseball enrichment fund."
Miller played for the Houston Astros from 1965 to 1973 and for the Braves in 1973 and 1974. He totaled 540 at bats during his career and hit .238 during his time in the major league.
This year's list of items available in the auction is the best yet.
Last year's auction included autographed and framed jerseys from Stan Musial and Nolan Ryan. Also up for auction are signed baseballs and photos of Hank Aaron, Yogi Berra, Nolan Ryan, Pete Rose, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Warren Spahn and Muhammad Ali.
"This is such way for us to kick off the new season," Pierce said. "Plus, fans have the opportunity to go home with great items from our auction with their bids going to help raise funds for the continued success of our program."

The Baseball season gets underway on Friday, February 17 when the Bearkats play host to San Diego in a three-game weekend series at Don Sanders Stadium.
"We had a great fall in our first few months as a new staff here at Sam Houston and got to see some exciting things from our players and team as a whole," Pierce said. "We hope as many Bearkat baseball fans as possible can make it to the banquet."
