Justin McKay third at Louisiana Tech

Sam Houston State's Justin McKay finished third just two strokes behind the leader in the individual medalist competition Monday and Tuesday at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate hosted by Louisiana Tech.
The event was played on the par 72, 7,345 yard course at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La.
Travis Wilmore of Louisiana Tech won the individual medalist title with a score of 70-68-68-206. Pep Angels of Central Arkansas was the runner-up with a 67-71-69-207 card. McKay's third place score was 73-67-68-208.
Sam Houston finished tied for fifth place in the team standings. Central Arkansas won the team title with an 869 total.
Southern Mississippi was the team runner-up at 873, followed by Louisiana Tech 876, Jacksonville State 882, SHSU and Southeastern Louisiana 883, Missouri-Kansas City and Houston Baptist 886, Rice 892, Texas State and Nevada 897, Nicholls 931, New Orleans 937 and McNeese State 948.
Other Sam Houston scores and finishes were Albert Miner 25th 78-72-73-223; J. T. Taylor 25th 77-71-75-223 and Logan Boatner 51st 84-76-74-234.
Next action for the Bearkats is the Harold Funston Invitational hosted by Sam Houston next Monday and Tuesday at Raven Nest Golf Club in Huntsville.
