Waco - Two Bearkats advanced to the second round of the championship singles draw and two more advanced in consolation singles action as the Sam Houston women's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional Championships hosted by Baylor University.
The regional championship annually brings together the top players from all 20 NCAA Division I women's tennis program in Texas and features a bevy of nationally ranked competitors.
Tanya Postnikova and Sheridan Currie won first round matches over players from North Texas and UTA, respectively. Imke Jagau and Kayla Stevenson also won in consolation singles action.
Four of the Bearkats' singles losses came at the hands of seeded players and four encounters went to either three sets or a super tiebreaker after split sets.
