Kat wins medals at African Student Games

Imke Jagau, a member of the Sam Houston State tennis team, has won a gold medal for her home country Namibia and earned a silver medal in the women's tennis competition at the African Student Games held in West Africa this week.
Jagau and Riekie Honiball, also from Namibia, are in the finals of the women's singles competition.
Namibia won its first gold medal in the women's doubles competition. In the women's doubles competition, Honiball and Jagau won the gold medal after they beat Algeria 6-4, 6-3 and Botswana 6-0, 6-1.
The women's singles semifinals were one-sided. Jagau, the top seed, beat Mwenge Domingo of Zambia 6-0, 6-1. In the singles final, Jagau got off to a good start, but Honiball fought back after dropping the first set to win in three.
"It was exciting to compete for Namibia in the African Student Games," Jagau said. "I'm proud that our country did so well in both the women's and men's tennis events."
