5th place at Texas State

The Sam Houston State women's golf team placed fifth in the Bearkats' first intercollegiate tournament of the 2012 spring semester Monday.
The Kats fired a team score of 315-314-308--937 at the Texas State Claud Jacobs Invitational played Sunday and Monday on the 7,289-yard, par 72 course at Victoria Country Club.
Shelby Hardy led the team with a fifth place individual finish with a 54-hole total of 226.
Texas State, the host team, was the tournament champion with a 901 total. Missouri and Iowa tied for the runner-up spot both with 934 totals.
Louisiana-Monroe (940) placed fourth followed by Sam Houston (937), Lamar (947), Toledo (962), Central Arkansas (966), McNeese State (967), Houston Baptist (971), Western Illinois (978), Ball State (983), Ohio (986), Stephen F. Austin (994), Eastern Kentucky (999), Texas-Pan American (1003) and Houston-Victoria (1086)
The Bearkats' Meghan Musk and Jackie Smith tied for 25th spot in the individual standings, both with 239 totals. Jessica Borth placed 29th and Jenna Stene 76th.
