Kats shine at SFA Fall Classic

While the event was stopped before with a limited number of titles determined due to Saturday's rain, the Bearkats picked up some impressive victories at the 2012 Stephen F. Austin Fall Classic played at Nacogdoches.
Freshman Madeine Mortimer and senior Tanya Postnikova each reached the finals of their respective singles flights. Mortimer posted victories over players from Stephen F. Austin and Northwestern State while Postnikova had wins over opponents from Jarvis and McNeese State.
Natalie Petaia, Nadia Dudyanskaya and Kayla Stevenson each reached the semifinals in their competitions, earning victories over foes from McNeese, Louisiana-Monroe and Northwestern State, respectively.
Sheridan Currie and Petaia paired to win the Flight B doubles. Mortimer and Stevenson paired to finish third in the B flight doubles, downing teams from Jarvis and Houston.
"We had some very interesting results at SFA," SHSU head coach Jim Giachino said. "The girls continue to improve and picked up some good wins this weekend."
