
Bowlers Compete In Maryland Event

The Sam Houston women's bowling team will battle 13 other teams in the Frederick Underwood Classic hosted by Bowie State Friday through Sunday in Laurel, Maryland.
The event will be held at the AMF Laurel Bowling Center.
The No. 4 ranked Bearkats are coming off a seventh place finish in last weekend's Mid-Winter Invitational hosted by Arkansas State.
No. 19 ranked Bethune-Cookman is the only other ranked team in the tournament. Other squads competing are Alabama-Birmingham, Chowan, Coppin State, Howard, Lincoln University, Morgan State, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, Salem International, Virginia State, Virginia Union and host team Bowie State.
Sam Houston brings a 52-17 dual match record into the tournament.
During the fall semester, the Kats won tournament championships at the Tulane Invitational, the Alabama A&M tournament and the Track Kat Klash in Huntsville during the fall. Sam Houston also finished as team runner-up at the Bethune-Cookman tournament.
This weekend's schedule calls for six baker total pin fall matches on Friday, six team game format matches on Saturday and best of seven baker bracket play on Sunday. Seedings for the Sunday bracket play will be decided by total pin fall from Friday and Saturday action.
