Neishka Cardona wins Puerto Rico Olympic Award

The award was presented to Cardona in Puerto Rico this month.
"This was an amazing experience not just for the award but also because I had the opportunity to meet and be around all of the athletes from Puerto Rico who participated in the Olympics in London," Cardona said. "It was such a thrill."
Neishka Cardona, whose home town is Carolina, Puerto Rico, received the award after an extremely successful sumer of international competition.
Her summer tour included the Champions of Champions Adult World event where she medaled in three events, the World Youth Championships in Thailand and an outstanding perforamce at the PABCON Zone Championships in Henderson, Nevada. In that event, Cardona averaged nearly 210 for 30 games on her way to a sixth place finish against 90 of the best females in the PABCON Zone.
Cardona is a former member of the Puerto Rican Youth National Team and most recently her attention has rolled over to the Adult Team where she has continued to have success and represent Puerto Rico with great pride. Cardona retired from the Youth National Team as the most decorated female youth bowler in Puerto Rican History.
"This is my first time to win the adult award," Cardona said. "It really was a surprise when my mother called me to tell me the news and that I was scheduled to come home and receive the award. It was just great."
Cardona has helped lead the 2012-13 Sam Houston bowlers to a No. 4 national ranking this season, the highest ranking in the program's three-year history.
