Women Fifth at UAB

GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The Sam Houston State women's golf team sits in fifth place after one round at the UAB Fall Beach Blast at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club.
Alisa White leads the way for the Kats after firing a 74 in the first round. The 36-hole tournament is being played on a 6,050-yard par-72 course.
Austin Peay leads the 12-team field at 295, followed by Tulsa (297), Belmont (298), Louisiana-Monroe (299), the Bearkats and Houston Baptist (301), Southern Miss (302), UCA (303), McNeese State (305), Memphis (306), Alabama State (322) and UAB (324).
Paige Nelson (75) and Nicole Budnik (75) are tied for 19th, Brooke Fouts (77) is tied for 35th and Abigayle Corson (80) is tied for 50th.
The event concludes Tuesday with an 8 a.m. CT shotgun start.
