Sarah Black Joins Bearkats

Sam Houston State women's golf announces the signing of Sarah Black, a standout junior golfer from Andrews, Texas.
“We are very excited to have Sarah join our women's team in 2014. Our assistant coach, Tommy Chain, did a great job recruiting Sarah and she will definitely add some strength to this young and talented women's team,” said Bearkat head coach Brandt Kieschnick. “Sarah has been playing at a high level in high school and junior golf. She comes to Sam Houston State has one of the top ranked high school golfers in 3A and ranked No. 18 in Texas on Junior Golf Scoreboard.”
Sarah has an impressive junior record with a first place finish at the 2011 3A Texas State Championship as a Freshman and Runner-up medalist in the 2013 3A Texas State Championship. She's a three-time District Champion, and has four top-five finishes on the Texas Junior Golf Tour, including first at TJGT Wolfdancer Championship.
“One feature we loved about Sarah was her ability to win tournaments. She has won eight tournaments and that shows she know how to get in contention and then perform well under the pressure and pull out the victory. Sarah will bring that experience to our young team that has already won this semester,” Kieschnick added.
The Bearkats will add Sarah Black to a program that won the SHSU Harold Funston Invitational posting a 54-hole school record at their home event this fall.
