Kats win 3 of 4 flight titles in SHSU Invt.

Sam Houston State players took titles in three of the four championship flights Sunday at the Bearkat Tennis Invitational at the McAdams Tennis Center on the SHSU campus.
Maddie Mortimore defeated teammate Imke Jagau in the A Singles championship finals 6-2 6-1.
The Bearkats' Natalie Petaia lost to Marizanne Bower of Oral Roberts 6-0 7-6 in the B Singles finals.
Two Bearkats, Heather Martinez and Isabella Costa, battled in the C Singles finals. Martinez won 6-3 6-1.
The doubles final also was an all-Sam Houston affair with Jagau and Stevenson defeating Petaia and Olivia Battye 8-4.
“The tournament was a great way to end the fall schedule,” SHSU head coach Jim Giachino said. “We had a Bearkat in each of the finals and won three of the four. Both Oral Roberts and UT-Pan American have improved teams and the quality of play was high.”
