The Bearkats upped their season record to 15-9 with a 25-14 25-14 25-19 victory over the Cowgirls. Sam Houston stands 12-3 in Southland Conference action.

"We really worked hard on letting last week go and understanding that we still have a lot to give this year," SHSU head coach Brenda Gray said. The Bearkats dropped two home matches to Southland front-runners Central Arkansas and Oral Roberts last Thursday and Saturday. "We still have a lot to do."

Rachel Cagnina led the Cowgirls with eight kills.

Tayler Gray assisted on 33 of Sam Houston's kills and led the defense with 14 digs. Shelby Genung assisted on four of SHSU's seven blocks and added three service aces.

"Deveney Wells-Gibson had a great night tonight," Gray said. "She is a great player and when she is on, she is unstoppable."

Sam Houston completes its home schedule Saturday at 11 a.m. when the Bearkats play host to Nicholls State. Saturday is senior day at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
