50th Anniversary Outdoor Track Women

FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference, as part of its year-long 50th Anniversary commemoration, has announced its All-Time Women's Outdoor Track & Field Honor Rolls.
Representing Sam Houston State on the 50th Anniversary honor roll are
Roshunda Betts, Quantinette Fields, Jessica Fisher, Alisha Fowler, Tiana Lee, Ambra McCuin, Cathy Nelson, Jennie Sewell.
Betts holds the Southland Conference record in the javelin and earned All-America honors. Quantinette Fields was the 2006 Southland women's outdoor athlete-of-the-year. Fisher was Southland Outstanding Track Performer and Freshman of the Year in 2007.
Fowler won a pair of gold medals in the Southland high jump in 2003 and 2005. Lee is a two-time Southland champion in the 400 meter hurdles. McCuin is a two-time triple jump Southland titlist. Nelson won a pair of 800 meters outdoor championships. Sewell holds the Southland record in the pole vault and earned All-America honors.
Curtis Collier of Sam Houston was named to the outdoor honor roll head coaches.
The Southland held its first outdoor championship for women in 1986 at Arlington, Texas, and the women's honoree list includes 117 all-time standouts, three of which were also NCAA DI national champions. Additionally, six men's and five women's coaches were recognized for their historic contributions to these sports.
