Texas State visits Bearkats Wednesday

The Bobcats shut out Sam Houston 3-0 in last year's final in San Antonio, but the Bearkats already have posted one victory over Texas State earlier this season in San Marcos.
The Kats won a slug-fest 9-6 on Feb. 23 at the Texas Shootout hosted by the Bobcats.
Sam Houston brings an 8-12 season mark into Wednesday's game while Texas State stands 3-16 for the year. The matchup with the Bobcats will be Sam Houston's last non-conference warm-up before the Bearkats begin Southland Conference action Saturday with a doubleheader at Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond.
Tori Benavidez (.333), Cecilia Castillo (.320) and Hillary Adams (.310) lead Sam Houston at the plate. Adams leads the Bearkats with six home runs and 20 RBIs this season.
Shelby Lancaster, Haley Baros and Meme Quinn have handled most of the pitching duties for the Bearkats. Lancaster is 6-3 this year with a 2.37 earned run average in the pitching circle.
Katie Baker lead Texas State in hitting with a .297 average. Ashley Wright is the Bobcats' top threat in the pitching circle.
