Shelby Hardy, senior from San Saba, has become only the second Bearkat to earn either first orsecond team All-Southland Conference honors in women's golfer at Sam Houston.
Hardy and Bearkat freshman Nicole Budnik both are among the 10 student-athletes who have been voted to the 2012-13 All-Southland Conference women's golf honor squad.
Hardy was a first team selection while Budnik was voted to the second team. Raman Saran was named as first team all-league in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and was a second team selection her senior year. Hardy was voted second team her freshman year and has been a first team choice the past three seasons.
Hardy became the first Bearkat since 2007 to win individual medalist honors at the Southland championship a week ago in Frisco. She set a conference tournament record with a three-round total of 4-under par 212 to win by six strokes.
The senior averaged 75.03 strokes in 31 rounds on the season and notched eight top-10 finishes including three individual titles. Hardy holds school records for most tournament victories in one season, most tournament championships in a career and lowest career stroke average for a player who has participated in more than one season.
Budnik posted a 77.39 scoring average this year in 31 rounds. She posted three top 10 individual finishes.
Hardy and Budnik paired to lead the Bearkat women's golf team to a runner-up finish in the 2013 Southland Conference championship held at Frisco last week.
