
Six Women Named All-Southland Conference

Six members of Sam Houston's women's squad that placed third at the 2013 Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Lake Charles, La., last weekend earned all-league honors this spring by finishing either first, second or third in an event.
Adrienne Quillin, sophomore from Houston Klein Forest, was Southland Conference champion in the hammer throw with a school record toss of 181 feet, five inches.
Shelbie Zotyka, senior from Wallis, earned the league's pole vault title with a mark of 12 feet, 10.25 inches.
Tonicia Wimberley, Lygia Foreman, Ruth Amaku and Jordan Grady all earned All-Southland honors as part of the gold medal 4x400 relay squad. The quartet won the event with a time of 3:41.40.
Wimberley is a senior from Houston Washington while Grady is a freshman from Lancaster.
Amaku, a freshman from Missouri City Elkins, and Foreman, a sophomore from Fort Worth Eastern Hills both earned All-Southland honors in individual events as well.
Amaku was the runner-up in the 400 meter hurdles with a mark of 1:00.91. Foreman placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 55.44.
Winnie Ileso placed third in the 100 meter hurdles, clocking a 14.08 to earn All-Southland individual honors.
Foreman is the only repeat All-Southland Conference selection for the Bearkat women this season. She also was a member of the 4x100 relay that placed third in 2011.
