Baseball headed to Baton Rouge Regional

For the second year in a row, Sam Houston State is headed to the NCAA regionals as an at-large selection.
The Bearkats travel to Baton Rouge this weekend where No. 4 national seed LSU (52-9) will host. Sam Houston (37-20) meets Louisiana-Lafayette (41-17) in the first round, Friday at 7 p.m., while the Tigers face off with Jackson State (34-20) to open the regional at 2 p.m.
The field of 64 teams competing for the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship was announced today by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.
"I'm very excited for our team, our program, and our school," said Bearkat head coach David Pierce. "We're just happy to go to Baton Rouge and represent Sam Houston State University. I'm really proud of our players."
The national top eight seeds are North Carolina (52-8), Vanderbilt (51-9), Oregon State (45-10), LSU (52-9), Cal State Fullerton (48-8), Virginia (47-10), Florida State (44-15) and Oregon (45-14).
Each of the 16 regionals features four teams, playing a double-elimination format. The regionals are scheduled to be conducted from Friday, May 31, to Monday, June 3 (if necessary). Selection of the eight super regional hosts will be announced on www.NCAA.com/cws, Monday, June 3 at approximately 11 p.m. (ET).
The 67th Men's College World Series begins play Saturday, June 15, at the TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.
