Azar Named to ABCA All-Region Team

Sam Houston State catcher Anthony Azar has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region second team. The junior backstop was a first-team selection last season.
Azar, the Bearkats leading run producer, drove in a team-high 47 runs in 2013. His 21 doubles led the team and he was second on the squad with six homers.
An outstanding defensive player, Azar committed just one error during the season. The one defensive gaffe came in the team's first game of the Southland Conference Tournament.
The Woodlands, Texas product help the Kats win back-to-back Southland Conference Championships and at-large selections to the NCAA Regionals.
The ABCA South Central Region consists of players from the Southland Conference, Sunbelt Conference, Conference USA and the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
