Paige Nelson named Golfer of the Month

A day after leading her team to a first place finish at the ORU Shootout, sophomore Paige Nelson has been named the Southland Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for September.
An Honorable Mention All-Southland selection as a freshman last season, Nelson has gotten off to a fast start in her sophomore season with top-10 finishes in the first three tournaments of the fall.
The Creekview High School Product started the season with a sixth place finish at the FedEx Memphis Women's Intercollegiate. Her first-round 70 led the way for her top-10 finish.
She then claimed individual medalist honors at the ULM Fred Marx Invitational the next week, for the first collegiate tournament win of her young career. She finished one-over par and four strokes ahead of ULM's Ines Fendt in second place.
Nelson followed that performance with a second place finish at the ORU Shootout, leading the Bearkats to first place at the event.
Nelson's 72.55 stroke average so far this season would annihilate the school record for season average (75.03).
