
Softball Inks Six During Early Period

Six high school seniors have signed with Sam Houston State University during the early November letter-of-intent period to play softball for head coach Bob Brock.
Emily Bounds, Codi Carpenter, Kennedi Fisher, Ashley Goetz, Lindsey McLeod and Bailey Watson will join the Kat softball program next fall as freshmen.
Goetz, an infielder from Georgetown has been an all-district selection three years in a row for Georgetown High School. She also played for THZ Gold club team in Austin. She is a former district “Newcomer of the Year” and won her team's “Golden Glove” award.
McLeod is a pitcher from Austin / Westlake has earned district “Pitcher-of-the-Year” honors and has been an all-state and all-Central Texas selection as well. She played for the Houston Power Gold softball club.
Carpenter is a three-time all-district honoree from Magnolia High School. Her team's leading hitter as a freshman, sophomore and junior, she plays for Impact Gold Connor club team.
Fisher, a pitcher from Lake Jackson / Brazoswood, is a three-time all-district selection and has won all-county and county “Pitcher-of-the-Year” honors. She has led her high school team to three district titles. She plays for Aces Express Gold Jacoby club team.
Watson, an outfielder from Montgomery High School, is an all-state performer who helped lead her squad to the Class 4A state championship her sophomore year. She also plays for Firecrackers HTX Gold King club team.
Bounds is utility player from Moody High School who is a three-time all-district selection. She also plays for Centex Buzz Gold Leighty softball club.
“We really wanted to bring an impact class in for 2015 because of the great student-athletes we have moving on,” Brock said. “I believe we have accomplished that with this class. I could not be more excited about this young group of athletes. “
