Starr earns Weekly Southland Conference Honor

Sam Houston State senior Sabrina Starr is the Southland Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
The award comes for Starr after a two-time record-breaking performance at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. last weekend.
Starr shattered the school-record in 60m hurdles with a mark of 8.40 in the preliminaries and for an encore, broke her own record with a time of 8.33 and first-place finish in the finals.
The LaPorte native was one of 16 top-five performers for the Bearkats at the CrossPlex and currently ranks 27th in her event nationally.
Sam Houston's next action will come on Friday as the Kats compete in the Houston Tune Up before getting ready for the Southland Conference Indoor Championships back in Birmingham.
