Netters play Southland foes Friday & Saturday

The Sam Houston women's tennis team returns home for the first time in three weeks as the Bearkats play host to a pair of Southland Conference opponents in dual match action Friday and Saturday at the McAdams Center.
New Orleans, one of three new league members in competition this spring, battles the Kats at 2 p.m. Friday. Southeastern Louisiana is the foe for the SHSU women Saturday at 11 a.m.
Sam Houston defeated Oral Roberts 5-2 in its Southland opener Feb. 9. The Bearkats have non-conference wins over Tarleton State and North Central Texas.
All three of the women's losses have come on the road to top programs (Texas A&M, SMU and UTEP).
Individual dual match singles records for the Kats are Bella Costa (3-1), Kayla Stevenson (3-3), Karen Martinez (3-2), Olivia Battye (2-3), Maddie Mortimore (2-3), Natalie Petaia (2-3) and Imke Jagau (1-3).
Sam Houston has earned post-season Southland tournament berths each of the last nine years.
The Bearkats reached the semifinals at the tournament in both 2012 and 2013.
