SHSU goes 11-4 at Columbia Music Classic

The No. 7 ranked Sam Houston women's bowling team finished ninth in their final regular season tournament at the 2014 2014 Columbia 300 Music City Classic.
The event was held at the Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna , Tenn.
Sam Houston went 2-1 in bracket play Sunday. Combined with a 4-2 Friday and a 5-1 record Saturday, the Kats ended the tournament with a 11-4 mark.
Sunday Sam Houston opened with a seven-game loss to No. 5 Central Missouri. The Mules bounced back after Sam Houston jumped out to a 2-0 start to win four of the next five games.
The Bearkats also went seven with Sacred Heart in a victory, then blanked No. 14 Valparaiso in four games in the final match of the day.
Saturday Sam Houston posted wins over three nationally ranked squads, defeating Saint Francis (NY) 900-876, #3 Fairleigh Dickinson 943-933 and No. 16 LIU-Brooklyn 1057-880.
The Kats also won over unranked Howard 988-749 and Sacred Heart 970-842. SHSU's only loss was to Kutztown 994-914.
Friday in quad baker action, Sam Houston posted a 1-1 record against ranked opponents, falling to No. 20 Delaware State 807-781 then bouncing back for a 755-737 win over No. 3 Maryland-Easter n Shore
The Kats went 3-1 against unranked foes, losing to North Carolina A&T then posting victories over Adelphi 795-7505, Alabama-Birmingham 685-643 and Monmouth 698-666.
Sam Houston now stands 90-42 in dual match play this year with 45 of those wins are over nationally ranked foes.
Host and No. 8 ranked Vanderbilt won the tournament championship in bracket play, defeating No. 1 Arkansas State in five games in the finals.
