Miner Named Golfer of the Month

Sam Houston State senior Albert Miner was named the Southland Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for March, the league office announced Wednesday.
Miner bookended March with two great showings, including a second place finish at the Argent Financial Classic hosted by Louisiana Tech, March 3-4, and a first place finish at the Arkansas-Little Rock/First Tee Classic, March 24-25.
At the Argent Financial Classic, the senior from Katy, Texas (Seven Lakes H.S.), shot a tournament-best 68 in the second round to help lead the Bearkats to a third place finish as a team.
Miner also shot a second round 70 at the UALR/First Tee Classic to led Sam Houston to a runner-up finish. In eight rounds, Miner averaged 73.1 strokes, including a low of 68.
Honorable mention this month goes to Central Arkansas junior Pep Angles and McNeese State sophomore Martin Eriksson.
The Bearkats play next week at the Texas State Jim West Classic in San Marcos before heading to the Southland Conference Championship, April 21-23, in McKinney.
