White wins CPT National Championship

Sam Houston senior golfer Alisa White defended her title at the Collegiate Players Tour National Championship with rounds of 76-79-73. The Hereford native is entering her final season with the Bearkats after finishing the summer with a big win.
White finished one stroke ahead of UT-Tyler's Jordan Sloane to claim her second straight title. Baylor's Natalia Perez and Houston's Kelli Rollo were tied for third.
White was named the Southland Conference women's golf Newcomer of the Year last season after transferring from West Texas A&M. She is the third Sam Houston golfer to be named newcomer of the year, joining Meghann Stevens (2010) and Stephanie Page (2007).
She was also a member of the All-Southland first-team after recording a 76.52 stroke average in 31 rounds. In 11 events, White had two top-10 finishes, including a second-place tie at the Islander Classic hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, in February. She is the sixth Bearkat women's golfer to earn first-team honors.
