Sam Houston will be the number four seed in best of seven baker bracket play Sunday after winning four of its five matches Saturday in traditional team play.
The have averaged a team pinfall of 210.0 in their 10 matches Friday and Saturday. Arkansas State is the top seed in bracket play with an 8-2 record and 209.6 average. Host Fairleigh-Dickson (8-2, 205.6 pins) and Vanderbilt (8-2, 201.3 pins) hold down the number two and three positions.
Anna Groce and Heather Penatzer have posted the highest indivdual averages in their two days of team play. Groce sports a 200.6 mean and Penatzer a 219.22 average.
Sam Houston fell to Franklin Pierce 1,010 to 960 in their opening match, the bounced back with wins over 1,018 to 920 over Bethune Cookman, 977 to 941 versus Felician College, 975 to 806 over Adelphi and 932 to 887 against McKendree.
Friday, the Bearkats defeated Caldwell 1,041 pins to 787, No. 18 ranked Kutztown 1,042 pins to 856 and Morgan State 1,144 pins to 841. The Kats' losses came by only 10 pins to No. 12 Saint Francis of Pennsylvania 943 to 933 and by 34 pins to No. 14 LIU-Brooklyn 1,046 to 1,012.
Twenty-nine teams are competing in the New Jersey Jamboree. Nineteen of those squads are ranked in the top 25.
