Hawk Classic in Delaware Next for Bowlers

Four times during the five-year history of the Sam Houston women's bowling program, the Bearkats had traveled to Millsboro, Delaware, to participate in the annual Hawk Classic hosted by Maryland-Eastern Shore.
The Kats are headed back to Delaware this weekend as one of the 15 nationally-ranked squads in the tournament's 20-team field.
The event is the fourth tournament on Sam Houston's fall schedule. The Bearkats won the All-State Sugar Bowl Classic hosted by Tulane in New Orleans. Sam Houston placed fifth at the Fairleigh Dickinson Jersey Jamboree and won eight of their 14 matches at the Nebraska Big Red Classic. The Kats sport a 24-14 overall dual match record this season.
Sam Houston is ranked No. 6 in the nation. Other top 10 teams in the field include No. 4 Fairleigh Dickinson, No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 8 Central Missouri. Also competing are No. 11 Maryland-Eastern Shore, No. 12 St. Francis (Pa.), No. 13 Sacred Heart, No. 16 St. Francis (Brooklyn), No. 17 Delaware State, No. 18 Kutztown, No. 19 Tulane, No. 20 Norfolk State, No. 22 Adelphi and No. 23 Monmouth.
The three unranked teams in the event are Howard, Morgan State, Franklin Pierce, Coppin State and New Jersey City.
The entrants will play six total pinfall baker matches on Friday and six traditional team games on Saturday. The pin fall totals from both days combined will determine seeding for best-of-seven baker bracket play on Sunday to determine the tournament championship.
