Men?s golf second after two rounds in Houston

HUMBLE -- The Sam Houston State men's golf team had a great day Saturday to vault into second place after two rounds at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship hosted by the University of Houston and Rice University at Golf Club of Houston.
The Bearkats as a team were a combined eight under par for the day. The only team that had a better day than the Bearkats were the No. 9 South Carolina Game Cocks, who were 13 under.
Senior golfer Zach Cabra is tied for eighth after he fired a first-round 72 and a second round 71.
Fellow senior JT Taylor is tied for 12th. He and Cabra both fired a 71 in the second round.
The Performance of the day came from Logan Boatner, who shot an impressive four-under 68 in the second round. He is tied for 18th in the field of 87 individuals.
Jake McCrory and Andrew Ertel are tied for 28th. The freshman, McCrory helped the Bearkats cause with a two-under 70 in the second round.
The Bearkats are ahead of No. 10 Baylor and No. 31 Houston who are fifth and sixth respectively.
The final round will tee off at 8:30 a.m. Sunday with a shotgun start.
