Women 6-3 at Music Center Classic

The Sam Houston women's bowlers won twice and lost three times in traditional team play Saturday at the Music City Classic in Tennessee.
The Kats opened with three losses, falling 961 - 959 to No. 15 LIU, 1183 – 1030 to No. 11 McKendree, and 1,007 – 971 to No. 4 Stephen F. Austin.
Sam Houston bounced back for a 1,102 – 1,042 victory over No. 7 Maryland-Eastern Shore and a 1,022 – 911 win against No. 10 North Carolina A&T.
"Today was a crazy day bad but good day,” Sam Houston head coach Brad Hagen said. “Overall total wise, we shot well and went plus. On the other side we caught teams at the wrong time, had some bad breaks, and a few crucial mistakes that literally cost us two wins. It was just one of those days but the team did a great job staying positive and winning the last two matches was huge. Sundays a new day and a new opportunity to take care of business."
A winter storm that swept through the eastern half of the United States causing travel problems by land or air has forced changes to Vanderbilt's 11th annual Columbia 300 Music City Classic bowling tournament Friday morning at the Smyrna Bowling Center.
Each day will be scored as a separate event. Sam Houston placed fifth in Saturday's total pins competition with 5,084.
Top 10 teams in the original field include Nebraska (#1), Fairleigh Dickinson (#2), Arkansas State (#3), Central Missouri (#4), Stephen F. Austin (#5), Vanderbilt (#6), Sam Houston (#7), Maryland-Eastern Shore (#8), Wisconsin-Whitewater (#9) and North Carolina A&T (#10).
Other top 20 squads in the field are McKendree (#11), Sacred Heart (#12), Saint Francis Pa. (#13), Saint Francis NY (#14), LIU (#15), UAB (#16) and Valparaiso (#17).
Sam Houston now owns an 80-35 dual match won-loss record for the year. The Bearkats stand 45-29 record against the current NTCA top 20.
