
Softball hosts A&M-Corpus Christi at 11 a.m.

Sam Houston State plays host to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the Bearkats' fifth Southland Conference weekend series of the 2015 season Friday and Saturday at the Softball Complex.
Action begins at 11 a.m. Friday with a doubleheader. The two teams will complete the series Saturday with a 3 p.m. single game. Friday's doubleheader has been moved up from its scheduled 3 p.m. start due to the threat of rain late in the day.
A&M-Corpus Christi brings a 4-8 league record into the contest while Sam Houston stands 2-9. The Islanders are coming off back-to-back Southland Conference series victories. The Bearkats defeated Southeastern Louisiana 8-3 in Hammond in their last outing.
Third baseman Peyton Webb and second baseman Dani Allen continue to lead the SHSU women with batting averages of .345 and .311 respectively. Sam Houston uses the long ball as a weapon, having produced 35 doubles, a triple and 31 home runs this season.
Shortstop Sarah Allison and designated player Hillary Adams lead the team with six home runs apiece. Allison has batted in 21 runs this year while Adams has 20 RBIs.
The Islanders, who have won five of their last eight games, are led by senior is Hayley Galloway who is hitting .471 in Southland play, which ranks eighth in the Southland. In Southland play, the Islanders are hitting .301 while their opponents have posted a .306 batting average.
