After two days at the Wildcat Invitational in Orlando, the Sam Houston bowlers stand in second place heading into the final day of competition.
The sixth-ranked Bearkats went 4-1 on Saturday and are 7-2 on the weekend.
“Today was a grind from the beginning but I'm proud that we managed to get 4 wins and that we ended on a high note,” said head coach Brad Hagen.
The Kats opened the day with wins against No. 16 Monmouth and Bethune Cookman. The only loss of the day was to No. 11 UMES, but the Kats bounced back with wins against No. 18 Tulane and No. 22 Prairie-View A&M.
Madysen Keller was the top Bearkat bowler, with an average of 194.8 in five games, placing her 14th overall. Stephanie Zavala is 17th with a 191 average and Janine Kuwahara is 19th with a 190 average. Taryn Gray had the top game of the day, with a 235.
In Sunday's bracket play, the Bearkats will open with top seed Arkansas State.
