Brock Adds Five To Bearkat Softball

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Head coach Bob Brock announced the addition of five student-athletes to Bearkat softball on Wednesday on the first day of the fall signing period.
Kayte Martinez (Katy, Texas / George Ranch HS), Karlee Canada (Cypress, Texas / Cy Ranch HS), Sheridan Fisher (Cypress, Texas / Cy Fair HS), Brooke Malia (Houston, Texas / Houston Christian HS) and Daby Fitzpatrick (LaGrange, Texas / LaGrange HS) make up the signing class that add to the roster for the 2018 season.
"I am really excited about our 2017 recruiting class. expect them to be impact players for us on the field and in the classroom,” Brock said on Wednesday.
Kayte Martinez • OF/UTL • Katy Texas • George Ranch HS
Martinez has been the offensive MVP for George Ranch HS each of the past three seasons, earning first team all-district as both a sophomore and junior. That included earning the district's offensive MVP honor as a sophomore, in addition to being named an academic all-district selection. She also plays for the Sugar Land Stealth travel team.
Karlee Canada • OF • Cypress, Texas • Cy Ranch HS
An all-state outfielder in 2016, Canada has put together a stellar career at Cy Ranch HS. She has earned all-district honors in both 2015 and 2016, landing on the first team as a junior. Canada also was named the Houston Chronicle's Player of the Week in 2016, also earning honorable mention all-district honors as a freshman. Additionally, Canada has been an academic all-district selection each of her first three seasons at Cy Ranch and plays for the Houston Power travel team.
Sheridan Fisher • OF/UTL • Cypress, Texas • Cy Fair HS
Another product from the Houston area, Fisher enters her senior year at Cy Fair HS having been named a first team all-district outfielder. She was also named the Cougars' offensive, defensive and overall MVP a year ago. That came on the heels of a sophomore campaign that saw her earn second team all-district honors as well as defensive MVP for CFHS and the team's rookie of the year award. She has also been named an academic all-district choice the past two seasons and plays for the Cy Fair Intruders travel team.
Brooke Malia • SS/IF • Houston, Texas • Christian HS
Malia transferred to Houston Christian HS after spending her freshman season at Jersey Village HS where she was the team MVP and a first team all-district choice. Since moving to Houston Christian she has twice been named all-SPC and was the team MVP as a sophomore. Malia also plays for the Cy Fair Intruders travel team and is a standout on the basketball court, earning the Mustang Award as a junior and being named to the all-SPC South Zone team as a sophomore and an academic all-American as a freshman.
Darby Fitzpatrick • P/1B • LaGrange, Texas • LaGrange HS
Fitzpatrick has been a part of one of the winningest high school programs in the state over the past three years, helping lead LaGrange to a pair of state titles. She helped the Leopards to a Class 3A state title in 2014 and a regional finals berth in 2015. Last season she was a big part of a LaGrange squad that went 40-2, claiming the Class 4A state championship in addition to being the No. 1 team in the country according to USA Today. Individually, Fitzpatrick was a first team all-district choice in 2016 and has been an academic all-district choice three straight years. She also plays for the Pro Form Fast pitch travel team.
