
5-0 day surges Kats to 2nd place

Sam Houston went 5-0 on the day and will enter Sunday's bracket play as the No. 2 seed and will face top-seeded Nebraska.
“Today was a much better day with overall execution and we've put ourselves in a position to win and that's all I can ask for,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “We have a tough road to the championships but it needs to be treated as just another day in the office.”
Nebraska leads with a pinfall total of 10,959. The Kats finished the first two days at 10,890, five pins ahead of third place Vanderbilt. Arkansas State is in the fourth spot at 10,873. The top four teams after two days will compete for the title on Sunday.
Janine Kuwahara, was the top Bearkat individual bowler with a five-game average of 219. The overall leader was Kristin Quah of Vanderbilt with a 223 average. Heather Penatzer is also in the top 10 at 9th with a 210 average while Stephanie Zavala checks in at 15th with a 203. Kuwahara also had the high game of the day for the Kats with a 258.
