Bowlers claim title at Kat Klash

The Bearkats entered the day as the No. 2 seed, facing the top seeded Cornhuskers and started the morning strong with a convincing 4-0 win. After Nebraska defeated Vanderbilt in the semifinals, the Bearkats once again knocked off the Cornhuskers, this time 4.5-1.5.
“This was huge for us,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “You always want to show up at your home tournament and we did that this weekend. I thought we made some really big shots today and never panicked.”
It is the second title of the year for sixth-ranked Bearkats, after winning the season opening tournament in Orlando.
“We were in a similar position last week and just didn't make the shots we were capable of to win,” Hagen said. “For us to come right back and do what we needed to against a quality opponent like Nebraska will be big moving forward.”
It is the third Kat Klash title for the Bearkats, while Janine Kuwahara was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Kats will have a few weeks off before heading to Delaware for the UMES Hawk Classic for their final event of the fall schedule.
