Ertel in 24th, Kats 12th through two rounds

Sam Houston State men's golfer Andrew Ertel fired a second-round even-par 72, cutting three strokes off his opening round, to sit in a nine-way tie for 24th at the end of Day 2 at the All-American Intercollegiate from the Golf Course of Houston.
The Bearkats have accumulated a 36-hole score of 605, sitting tied for 12th with New Mexico and just five strokes back of 10th place McNeese State. Sunday's final round tees off at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
Redshirt freshman Jesse Massengale and sophomore Jake McCrory are locked in a four-way tie for 48th at 7-over, 151. Massengale posted an opening round 73 while McCory shot 74, but the two went 78 and 77 on their Saturday rounds respectively.
Teammate Mason Weld (80-76 – 156) is 12-over in a six-way tie for 68th and Camden DeBonis (80-78 – 158) is two strokes back in a two-way tie for 77th.
The University of Houston owns a commanding 13 stroke lead at 13-under followed by Arkansas at an even-par 576. South Carolina (1-over, 577), Baylor (8-over, 584) and SMU (12-over, 588) round out the top five. The Cougars' Papito Gonzalez is the leader in the clubhouse at 6-under, 138.
