Friday's Southland Conference baseball game between the University of New Orleans and Sam Houston State on Maestri Field at First NBC Ballpark has been postponed due to inclement weather.
With continuous rain falling in the Greater New Orleans Area throughout the day, the series between the Privateers and Bearkats will now begin on Saturday, March 12, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. The remainder of the weekend series will be established prior to that contest.
Sam Houston comes to the Lakefront 5-9 on the year after playing a tough non-conference schedule that included weekend series against Louisiana-Lafayette, Oklahoma and Wichita State in addition to single-game showdowns with Baylor, Rice Texas and Texas Tech.
UNO brings an 11-2 record into the 2016 Southland season. The Privateers enter the weekend with a head of steam after sweeping a three-game series with Pitt last weekend and posting mid-week victories over Southern and nationally-ranked Tulane on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
