
Kats Host Bradley Friday at 10:30 a.m.

After a two-week break from competition, the Sam Houston women's tennis team hosts two dual matches this weekend.
The Bearkats take on the Bradley Braves in Sam's final regular season non-conference match on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the McAdams Tennis Center. Sunday it's back to Southland Conference competition against Central Arkansas at 11 a.m.T
Bradley is completing a spring break trip through Texas. The Braves lost to Lamar 4-3 in Beaumont and defeated Prairie View A&M 4-1 in their first two contests in the Lone Star state. The two results give Bradley an 8-8 record overall this season.
Central Arkansas brings an 8-5 record to Huntsville Sunday. The Bears stand 3-3 in league action.
Sam Houston stands 6-6 for the year and is 1-3 in Southland play. Two weeks ago the team defeated Nicholls 5-2 and lost to first place McNeese State 6-1 in a pair of road encounters.
Maddie Mortimore owns a 10-1 record in dual match play this year and stands 19-5 overall including fall tournament play. The senior from Farnham, Surrey, England now stands as one of only nine Bearkat tennis players to have logged more than 50 singles victories in their career. Mortimore owns a 56-29 overall dual match record in her four seasons as a Bearkat.
Freshman Ema Barkovic from Rijeka, Croatia, is 7-5 at number three this season. Sophomores Fabienne Gettwart from Dreiech, Hessen, Germany and Carrie Casey from Franklin, Texas, hold 6-6 records playing at number one and two singles, respectively. Sophomore Mila Milanovic from Lieoda, Spain, holds an 8-4 dual match slate splitting time at the number four and five positions. Sophomore Caitlyn Mitchell from Nhulunbury, Northern Territories, Australia, has total five wins in both dual match and tournament play. Khee Yen Wee, a sophomore from Singapore, has two wins at the five and six position.
Following this weekend's home matches, the Bearkats take to the road again, traveling to play at A&M-Corpus Christi, Incarnate Word and Lamar. The Kats' final home match of the year will be against Abilene Christian on April 2.
