Maddie Mortimore All-Southland Conference

Maddie Mortimore from Sam Houston earned All-Southland Conference women's tennis this spring after winning ten of her 11 matches in league play.
For the season the senior from Farnham, Surrey in England compiled a 17-3 record in dual match play and a 26-7 combined won-loss slate in both tournament and dual match play. The 26 victories rank as the third highest single season individual win total in Bearkat tennis history.
Mortimore completed her four-year career with 63 singles victories, also the third highest total in Sam Houston women's tennis annals. Her 10 wins in league action ties a Bearkat season mark.
Mortimore earned All-Southland honors at number six singles. During the 2016 schedule, she played a three positions going 1-0 at number four singles, 8-2 at number five singles and 8-1 in number six singles.
The 2016 all-league selection marks Mortimore's second time to earn All-Southland honors. She was an all-SLC selection in 2013 as well. Only two other Bearkats, Irina Sotnikova and Peta Taylor have been honored as All-Southland in multiple seasons.
An economics and international business major with a perfect 4.0 four-year grade point average, Mortimore plans to attend graduate school following completion of her bachelor's degree.
